So this is a topic ive debated with myself forever and was wondering your thoughts.
It seems like recordings are just getting better and better and what not and it led me to think what is the best quality song or album so far? haha

One that sticks out to me for sure has to be (despite how much i dread this song) Love Drunk, by Boys like girls. Amazing job there by the engineers. Whats your opinion?

Dang! What a difficult thread. These are probably by no means the best, but a few albums I really love:

Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
Takk - Sigur Ros
Out of the Vein - Third Eye Blind
My Private Nation - Train
Sgt. Pepper - The Beatles
Grace - Jeff Buckley
Sky Blue Sky - Wilco

I really like this BLG song.... however

To say the best engineered song in existence is impossible....

For me, at the moment, i'm really loving the drum sound by Green Day and Paramore.....

however, for all over album.... the most..... intuitive i've seen is We Dont Need to Whisper by Angels and Airwaves.... simply from seeing the documentary on the album.

I recommend you guys watch it..... it inspired me for sure. Just google (or torrent if your inclined that way) Start the Machine DVD

You really don't think so? IMO albums haven't ever sounded as good as they do today. I can't even listen to older music because the production quality is so bad sounding (IMO). The songs are great, but I can't stand old sounding productions. I can hardly listen to Metallica prior to the Black Album (Master of Puppets is halfway decent sounding) because the production sounds awful to say the least.

Now granted I think engineers like Joey Sturgis take things way too far, but I definitely can't say it sounds worse than older productions.

I seriously think the best sound was in the 90, best real sound ( no samples ).
