 Post subject: Dont know ANYTHING about impusles :[

So i use a line six gear box, kinda like a pod.
But im not so pleased with my results... crash coarse on cab impulses?
What software needed, hardware, etc... i could find much about it in the forum on a HOWTO standpoint so sorry if im making an already answered post but im still kind of lost as to what it is and how to do it :[

We did a video on how to create impulses just a week or so ago, and we'll be doing a video on how to use impulses in a few weeks from now.

ughhhh i cant wait for that video make it now! im about to record a full length and my line 6 stuff just isnt fully cutting it!!

your line 6 stuff will probably work just as well as impulses, just saying! any impulses i've ever used can't touch the sound of any real amp. unless you really really take time to learn how to use them etc.. it won't work real great, when recording impulses you always have the di so you'd have that di anyways to frig around with..

In this case I disagree. Line 6 amps really aren't even worth spending the time to mic up. Especially the Spider series, they'll always sound bad. Personally I would rather use impulses than mic up a bad sounding amp.

yeah, miccing up a line 6 spider is like miccing up your monitors running podfarm, sounds awful

That is true, i used my friend spider for a demo once instead of using my marshall because i was too lazy to bring it upstairs. don't say i didn't regret that descision! :P i just have never gotten good tones from impulses myself although i have heard some pretty cool stuff!
